ABOUT SARA

Sara Cheesman

My yoga journey began in 1982 when I visited India and stayed at the Ashram in Ganeshpuri, not far from Mumbai.  This experience made a deep impression on me. I have visited India again since then, most recently at the start of 2016 when I studied Yoga at KYM in Chennai.

When my children were small I started practising yoga regularly, with my teacher and mentor Joy Rendall. I have practised yoga regularly for over 25 years and it has become an integral part of my life.

I took  the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course  in 2004 and completed my 3 years of study for a Teaching Diploma in 2008.  The British Wheel of Yoga is the umbrella organization for yoga teachers in the UK. British Wheel of yoga teachers are trained to teach with the safety of their students as paramount.  After training, each yoga teacher  continues to develop their own individual style.

I have experienced many different teachers and styles of yoga. I  regularly attend courses and workshops to enrich my teaching and learning.

I am interested in how yoga can help people with long standing back problems and many students who arrived with back problems have gained significant benefits through attending my yoga classes regularly.

I have trained in how to teach yoga to those with M.E./CFS with Fiona Agombar, and I offer  1 to 1 sessions or small group sessions in yoga for M.E.

Yoga helps me to think positively.  It allows me to remain calm in times of crisis.  It has helped me to cope through difficult times in my life and to appreciate things, however small, which bring happiness.  Yoga is a wonderful tool which enriches mind, body and spirit, and I want to share it.

Come inside

Breathe so only you can hear

Draw the blind

Sit, where it is snow-fall quiet

No yearning, no thinking

While your heart opens softly

Inside your skin.

Melt into sitting

Melt ito air where

Stillness holds you dearly

Cupping you in its grace

So you can spin,dance

New and delighted

Winged or finned

Suspended

In your breath.
